As agreed, please find attached the electronic version of documents distributed today to the COEST members, as supporting material for the presentation made by Director Gerhard Sabathil (EEAS):

  • drafts of Joint Letter(s) from G8 Presidency and Ukraine inviting the current / potential donors for support to the Chernobyl Funds. The MS should receive these letters signed in the coming days.
  • draft programmes for the Pledging Conference and the high-level "Kiev Summit on safe and innovative use of nuclear energy" to be held on 19 April 2011 in Kiev;
  • concept and draft programme for the "Twenty five years of Chernobyl Conference. Safety of the Future" to be held on 20-22 April 2011 in Kiev. (Please note that EC President Barroso is stated in this draft agenda, but his participation is not envisaged);
  • chart of the overall past and indicative suggested contributions by EU MS to the Chernobyl Funds (i.e. Chernobyl Shelter Fund and Nuclear Safety Account).

Thank you also for kindly reminding COEST Members that information on their foreseen participation in the 19 April Summit, and envisaged contributions would be much appreciated before 20 March. This would allow for follow-up of this important matter in the Atomic Question WP.
